What’s the elevator pitch for Eventbrite?

Eventbrite is an online self-service ticketing platform available for anyone around the world to manage, sell and promote tickets to their events. You can also use Eventbrite to discover events happening around you.

What’s your role at the company and when did you join?

I lead Eventbrite’s City Marketing in the UK. This means I create initiatives to raise awareness for Eventbrite – including events; partnerships and managing our social channels.

How did you find out about the role?

I heard about it from a friend who knows someone that works at Eventbrite HQ in San Francisco. She saw the job spec and sent it to me. Although I wasn’t job hunting at the time, it looked like a great fit for my interests and skills so I went for it.

What were you doing before you joined Eventbrite?

I was the Communications Officer for the BBC Chairman.

What’s your biggest ‘hindsight’ moment since you joined the company?

As the first employee in the London team, it’s been tempting to try and do everything at times. As the team’s grown, it’s been good to be able to narrow the focus on the things that have the biggest impact on the business.

What will 2014 bring?

We’re all focussed on growing Eventbrite as a global, two-sided marketplace. So whilst we’re launching some great new organiser features like reserved seating, there will also be changes to the way people discover things to do.

Convince someone to use your product/service in under 50 words.

Planning an event? Create an event page and start selling tickets within minutes on Eventbrite.

What’s your favourite startup in the events space (not including your own)?

I think HireSpace are doing a great job in transforming the venue discovery experience. And I love the Event Manager Blog, they do a great job reporting on technology developments for event professionals, which is hard to find anywhere else.

What’s your favourite London restaurant?

I recently had an epic and memorable meal at Viajante.

Also love the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road – Loong Kee is my favourite.

Ah, the Vietnamese restaurants on the Kingsland Road is an area close to our hearts, great choice Katie!
