Grant joined finnCap five years ago and now heads up the private fundraising arm – focussing on advising ambitious companies achieve their growth aspirations through strong access, from both the finnCap and Cavendish networks, to a deep and varied pool of capital. This includes access to both equity and debt. Grant joined from Investec where he spent eight years in the Investment Banking division doing large cap advisory to publicly listed clients. He is also an entrepreneur at heart having managed two high growth investment vehicles as well as co-founded a number of start-ups in the past. He therefore brings a somewhat unique and holistic approach having advisory, investment and operational experience and therefore knowledge of both early and later stage company lifecycles. It was this that led to Grant helping launch the private arm of finnCap more recently.
Grant graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a Post Graduate Degree in Enterprise Management.
Hugo joined finnCap in March 2017 to join the newly formed Private Company team. From late 2017 Hugo has focused on private fundraising, helping ambitious companies secure funding to support their growth story. Hugo has developed a substantial network of funders, both debt and equity. Hugo has also worked on several M&A opportunities including identifying acquisition targets for finnCap’s retained corporate clients. Prior to joining finnCap Hugo completed the Finance Graduate Programme at Lloyds Banking Group, experiencing a wide variety of roles and completing the CIMA qualification. Hugo’s final role at Lloyds was within the Group Investments team, helping to apportion and manage the internal investment funds.
