Farooq is a former Californian now based in London with Mosaic Ventures as an Associate Partner. Mosaic Ventures is a new Silicon Valley-style venture firm based in London which invests in leading European and Israeli start-ups primarily at Series A.
It was during his college years that Farooq deepened his interest in the field of startups as well as opened his eyes to what talented software engineers could build, when he sought out and worked with the General Catalyst team in Silicon Valley.
On graduating Farooq joined Sandbox Industries, a technology incubator and corporate venture capital fund with a focus on healthcare - it was here Farooq had his first foray in entrepreneurship, employing lean startup methodologies and value investing under the mentorship of two great operators (Nick Rosa and Bob Schapiro; Nutrasweet and Monsanto). Following a brief stint at a Bay Area-based investment bank, he worked at DN Capital's Sand Hill Road offices, supporting the team’s successful momentum-based investing strategy targeting tech laggard industries. Fast forward to 2016 and Farooq took the leap to move across to London to work at Mosaic Ventures.
