Lovers of French wine – the plucky organic/natural kind, not the big hitters – will find much to get excited about in this new venture on the site of La Trouvaille. The 120-bin list features petits producteurs from Provence, Languedoc-Roussillon & the southwest, with a few interlopers from elsewhere – the owner swears that his selection avoids the pottier end of vins natures. By-the-glass offerings change frequently, & the venue holds tastings as well as meet-the-maker sessions. Meanwhile, the kitchen takes care with sourcing & keeps it simple: Spanish jamón, cheese from Fromagerie Beillevaire in Knightsbridge, boules de picolat (Catalan meatballs), then coq au vin, grilled Buccleuch Estate steaks or braised squid with chorizo & chickpeas. Refurbishment should make the two-storey site feel more like Montmartre, & there are also plans for an off-licence.
