Owners of Covent Garden’s Brazilian restaurant Cabana, Jamie and David, namecheck three things that make Brazil truly special – the food, the eccentricity of the cities and the Brazilian outlook on life; ‘tudo bem’ or ‘everything’s good’. All three have been brought to London thanks to Cabana, not least of all the feeling the whole time you’re here that ‘tudo bem’. The quirky interior of Cabana is centred around a unique ceiling inspired by the multicoloured kites so often seen darting through the blue skies of Brazil, on walls meanwhile are posters printed by a Sao Paulo partnership more usually tasked with advertising carnaval. Recycled denim banquettes, reclaimed cheeseboard tables, jute condiment pots – the whole adds up to something really different, just like the menus. Cabana’s Brasilian barbeque seasons the best ingredients with trademark spices, accompanying them with street food snacks and traditional sides, frozen yoghurt, cachacas and cocktails.
