Meet the movers & shakers in the PropertyTech industry

The way we buy, sell and rent has changed. As consumers, we now have alternatives to the traditional estate agent model and as more new options hit the market, so does consumer appetite for faster-cheaper-easier-better services, meaning the business potential for new companies in the sector is huge.

We have seen a plethora of smart, exciting and interesting companies doing just that join TableCrowd over the last 6 months since our last dinner for the sector, all wanting to take a slice of this multi-billion pound industry.

With our PropertyTech dinner just over a week away, it’s the perfect time to introduce some of the businesses that will be dining with us.

Our speaker is Gemma Young, Co-founder & CEO of Settled. If you aren’t familiar with what they do, you should definitely join us for dinner! They are the only online estate agent to look after customers from start to finish of a home transaction, including the legals. They are using technology to address the problems in the property sector, automating and optimising usually cumbersome processes. They have been backed by investors to the tune of over £3m. Gemma has built a brilliant business in an exciting sector and it is an absolute pleasure that she’s joining us to share her journey. It’s an intimate dinner for 12, so at the time of writing, there’s just a few places left at the table.

Charles Thackray is Founder & CEO of Sidedoor, a company which makes finding a surveyor really easy. After posting a description of your job on the website, you can view the quotes as they come rolling in, before choosing which surveyor to work with. Charles founded the business in 2017 after 15 years working in the property industry. He had experienced first hand the difficulty of finding a suitable surveyor in both his capacity as a consumer and a property developer, so was the perfect person to tackle this industry problem.

Ben Collins is the founder of WalkTrue (amongst other successful ventures). He’s dining with us for the first time! Founded in 2017, WalkTrue is a marketing company specialising in real estate and experiential interactive media. They bring plans and projects-in-progress to life through interactive VR [virtual reality] and stunning 3D visuals. With his background deeply rooted in video production, Ben brings a wealth of experience to the industry.

Patrick Dougherty is Director at Ivar Capital, a London based design company for the home, including furniture, accessories and interior architecture.

Daniel Roy, Co-founder of cortexai, has booked his place. He’s building powerful AI [artificial intelligence] for the real estate industry, which allows clients to search visually across different properties (applying computer vision to property search). Daniel started out working in investment banking and then moving into tech, he started work on the project last year and is currently busy in stealth mode.

Alex Sullivan is Founder & CEO for ems.ai, a Digital Relocation Agent that uses ML/AI [machine learning/ artificial intelligence] to make moving easy. She [the technology] gets to know you so she can find you the perfect place to live – and she has plenty of local knowledge. The driver for the business is to take the stress out of rental services and to get renters into their new home without having to speak to an estate agent. With a highly successful background in fintech, Alex has been heading up emi.ai, his own project, since 2016. This will be Alex’s first dinner with TableCrowd.

A senior reporter from Courier will also be joining the dinner to meet our speaker and diners.

If you’d like to join us, the date for your diary is 10th April 2018 and all the details are here.
